ROBERT FEDER’S GIMMICK

It’s a subject I’ve left mostly alone, not because I’ve been told not to address it but because I’m hesitant to give airtime or blog space to a man who still calls Web traffic ‘hits‘ and has an unhealthy obsession with WGN Radio. Tonight, on the podcast, I’ll dive into the mud on this one. Stay tuned.

FOX/CNN/MSNBC DISSECTED

Some great analysis of the current cable media landscape from CJR today. I disagree with a few points (especially the bit about MSNBC offering a rainbow of opinons) but this quote is interesting:

From personal experience covering news around the world, you almost always run into a CNN crew or stringer. You almost never run into a Fox reporter, and never one from MSNBC.

Read the whole thing at CJR’s website.

Teacher Browbeats McCain Fans

Teacher Diantha Harris browbeats McCain supporting student, Kathy,in Ashville N.Carolina grade school. The poor girl is obviously distressed over the teacher’s line of questiong and belittling her choice of candidate in front of her school mates.

Teaching > Indoctrination

If you’re put off by this video… wait until you see how deep this valley goes

Republican Insiders Still Confident

I talked to one of my McCain guys a little while ago. He didn’t have any data, but he said, “based just on the anecdotal evidence, we feel good about who is showing up to vote and in what numbers.”
-
Also, a guy close to the Virginia Republican Party told me earlier today that the get-out-the-vote efforts were “hitting their targets” in all of the key parts of the

Dem Speechwriter Voting McCain

Wendy Button has a message for the Democratic Party… So long.

Wendy Button has written for Democratic Senators John
Edwards, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John Kerry, and for Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. She received her MFA in writing from Bennington College.

So what flipped her, you ask? It seems it was the one and only Joe the Plumber.

538 Projections: How McCain Can Win

No razzle-dazzle here: McCain simply has to pick which states he and Sarah Palin can do the most good in, and hope for the best.

I group the states into four categories. The first two categories concern blue states won by John Kerry and/or Al Gore. The latter two concern red states.

1. Give-Ups. McCain should concede Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.

2. Offensive Targets. McCain should remain engaged in New Hampshire

Shock: AP Poll – Obama/McCain Tie?

WASHINGTON (AP) – The presidential race tightened after the final debate, with John McCain gaining among whites and people earning less than $50,000, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll that shows McCain and Barack Obama essentially running even among likely voters in the election homestretch.

The poll, which found Obama at 44 percent and McCain at 43 percent, supports what some Republicans and Democrats privately have said in recent days: that the

Showdown: Debate Is Back On

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) ended three days of suspense on Friday morning and announced that he will leave bailout negotiations in Washington and fly to Oxford, Miss., for the opening presidential debate.

McCain had previously said that he would suspend his campaign until an agreement was reached on the administration’s $700 billion mortgage proposal.

No such agreement has been reached, but Republicans said the standoff was hurting McCain’s campaign, and that he

John McCain To Suspend Campain

John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.

The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Friday’s scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.

“America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial

McCain’s War With The NYT

WASHINGTON — One of the giant mortgage companies at the heart of the credit crisis paid $15,000 a month from the end of 2005 through last month to a firm owned by Senator John McCain’s campaign manager, according to two people with direct knowledge of the arrangement.

The disclosure undercuts a remark by Mr. McCain on Sunday night that the campaign manager, Rick Davis, had had no involvement with the company for

Obama Ad Runs 120 Seconds Long

“In the past few weeks, Wall Street’s been rocked as banks closed and markets tumbled. But for many of you – the people I’ve met in town halls, backyards and diners across America – our troubled economy isn’t news. 600,000 Americans have lost their jobs since January. Paychecks are flat and home values are falling. It’s hard to pay for gas and groceries and if you put it on a credit card

McCain VP May Leak At 6PM Today

SOURCE: NAME MAY LEAK AT 6 PM ET… WITH SOME SORT OF CONFIRMATION AT 8 PM… DEVELOPING…

So here’s the buzz… Some outlets are reporting that Romney is ‘off the list‘ which leads me to believe the McCain campaign thinks the pick is too obvious and won’t spur much of a reaction unless they spin it so it looks less obvious. Lieberman is so far out of the running that…

Ad Wars: McCain Ad ‘Debra’ Is A Hit

This is more of what we talked about on the radio show Sunday. The McCain camp is really hitting it’s stride in using this rift in the Democratic party as a weapon. Question the Unity moniker.

It’s Getting Dirty: The Texas GOP uses Obama’s brother in attack ad.

Obama Fires Back: John McCain ‘don’t know much‘ about the economy.

Sources: It’s Mitt Romney And Joe Biden

Two Republicans who know say McCain has settled on Mitt Romney as his running mate.

Meanwhile: If you are the wagering type, bet on Obama announcing Joe Biden as his running mate on Saturday.

Mark Halperin call what we’ve all been guessing this month. All chips on Romney and Biden.

Update: There’s only one wager left… what time does Obama announce? I say 3:30PM EDT.

Ad Wars: John McCain Fires Back

Sen. John McCain’s campaign is fighting back against questions about his house holdings by opening a website focusing on past questions about Sen. Barack Obama’s dealings with controversial Chicago businesssman Tony Rezko.

The campaign was getting the site ready Thursday afternoon. McCain surrogates on television were being armed with facts about Rezko’s relationship to Obama’s purchase of his Chicago home in 2005.

Previewing the message the campaign will seek to drive, a

Obama Slams McCain’s 7 Homes

The ad, which spokesman Bill Burton said is airing on national cable, contrasts Americans’ struggle to pay their mortgages with McCain’s optimistic talk on the economy and his personal wealth.

It also answers McCain’s the question about McCain’s houses:

“It’s seven. Seven houses. And here’s one house America can’t afford to let John McCain move into”

This attack seems a bit silly. Barack Obama’s brother may be living in a
