MEXICALI, Mexico — Police in the border city of Mexicali say they have recovered a powerful improvised cannon used to hurl packets of marijuana across a border fence into California.
Police told the Televisa network that the device was made up of a plastic pipe and a crude metal tank that used compressed air from the engine of an old car.
The AP reports that some of the canisters fired from this marijuana cannon were as heavy as 30lbs. The pot is quickly snapped up by a dealer on an ATV, processed and eventually distributed across the Western US. In the photo below, you can see some of the canisters waiting to be picked up after being fired from Mexico into California.
Police in Mexico have found several similar devices in the last few years.
