The question here isn’t whether or not Senator Baucus is hammered (I’m about 80% sure he’s half in the bag), the question is why did this video clip remain unnoticed for the better part of a week before anyone bothered to question his sobriety?
Does the D (D-Montana) stand for Dou__ebag from Montana?
because who tunes into cspan… really…
It was 4:40PM on the Senate floor, and Senator Max Baucus (D-Montana) was going on and on with a spirited, slur worded, drunken tirade against Senate Republicans for their none support of a National Health Care Bill. We don’t know what he ate for lunch, but he probably chased it down with a good drinking buddy…
BACCHUS, Roman God of Wine, meet BAUCUS, Montanan Senator of WHINE!
Unfortunately, your rhetorical question is no longer necessary. The question should be why are we not demanding our media do their job? Unless we continually hold the media's feet to the fire while also notifying their sponsors of our intentions, we'll continue to receive only what the media wants us to see/hear/know. For many of us, we'll find out the truth on our own, but there are many who don't or won't. It is those people who make the difference at the polls. There are too many who are hoodwinked by the media and either don't have computers or don't know enough about them to be able to find the truth.
In Vino Veritas – “In wine, there is truth”
I agree. I am disgusted with the whole Washington pack. Bribes to sell us all down the river on this healthcare package, quadrupling our deficit and then to have the gall to still try to point fingers at one another. I will vote every single one of them out that I can. We need to start over.
Max does talk rather haltingly. But I must say I haven't seen him that animated before. He may have been drunk, but he did make a good point. I'm sure FOX will have a heyday with it.
this is the type of idiot that ends up ruining the lives of the people of this country, a drunken fool is stearing the ship wake up people get rid of these parasites.
He's not drunk. This just goes to show everyone how bad a public speaker he is. He's notoriously bad…
you don't get in office by being a bad speaker
this idiot is bombed!
this idiot is bombed
Actually the man came across as being very emphatic in reference to trying to get the health reform bill passed. Just because a person slurs words ocassionally does not mean that person is intoxicated. There are medical conditions that can cause that sort of verbal slip. Hyper-thyroidism is one such disease. I know cause I am hyperthyroid. I've known other people who suffer from a hyper thyroid. Simply put, there are times when the brain literally thinks faster than the mouth can keep up and it will cause the individual to slur and trip over words. That being said, I could not tell from this video clip if Senator Baucus was in fact intoxicated. He just seemed very zealous in his defense of the health reform bill Appears to me that a lot of you folks out there are over eager to “see” what the title of the video clip implies.
Georgina, let me say that the reason the issue is raised is because Max Baucus does not normally slur his words. Montana put Buacus back in power, unfortunately, voting 80% for him and it was not because or inspite slurring his speech. Max does not slur his speech as a rule so please understand that he is merely trying to march to the Reid, Pelosi, Obama drum beat. He is the same person who said there were no carve outs or perks for senators in the Stimulus package and it was his leadership that gave us the de-stimulus. Please no excuses for Max!
Thank you for clarifying the mans' normal demeanor.
Maybe we should require that all our elected officials get totally smashed before they start, then maybe the American People would stand a chance at knowing exactly what they are up to!
Dude is soooooooo hammered. Altho I can sympathize. I don't drink but this whole healthcare issue makes me want to!
The news media of this country, with a few exceptions (i.e. Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, etc) make the state controlled and run media of the old days of the Soviet Empire look free and unbiased. Liberal senators of either party have had large oversized red brake lights on installed their derrieres to insure that if they stop suddenly in their tracks, surgical removal of the liberal sycophants' heads from the media types that fawn over them and would be become jammed up their sphincters won't become a necessity.
If healthcare reform were so popular, why did they (the liberal democrats) literally have to bribe some senators and representatives to support it? Daily, we are treated to a sickening list of the unseemly and indecent handouts offered to Key Politicians states in order for them to support the takeover of US Healthcare. Why did this have to happen so fast? This isn't about helping people – this is all about controlling them – just like Hitler and the NAZI party. When they came to power in Germany in 1933 – one of their first acts was to seize and nationalize the German Healthcare System. We have heard of the so called “death Panels” in the Demokratik plan to nationalize healthcare – the Demokratz deny their existence but they are clearly in the plan. Another salient feature of Hitler and his henchmen was to use the idea of “quality of life” to control healthcare costs. In NAZI Germany, officials went to hospitals, sanitariums, and asylums. They quietly and quickly euthanized people whom they felt had an “inferior” quality of life – primarily the aged, chronically sick, the infirm and the mentally defective. All in the name of compassion – but in reality to save money. I wonder what the timetable in this plan is for such actions.
I became aware of this video through an emotional discussion in our local Montana newspaper. A tragedy occurred involving a drunk driver and 4 teenage girls, 2 are dead as a result. Max drunk? I've spent more than one event listening to his speak and double speak. I'm only guessing that he'd been on the senate floor far too long(clue:why so many empty seats around him?) To me he sounds just like Max. He makes no sense and he's hard to listen to.
Thank goodness for Bacchus, the Roman god of wine and revelry. We can safely say Max is living up to the standards his surname implies.
I'm sorry to say that I am a Montanan. I have heard Max speak many times and I have to totally agree with the suggestion that Baucus was INTOXICATED when he made this speach. What a shame for ALL Montanans!!! One more reason to blow this S—H–D out of office. I don't want some drunken, ethic-less (his girl friend for Federal Prosecutor for Montana), immoral (his wife divorced him over the girl friend) Jack Ass representing ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Poor speaker Max is supposed to be drunk just because he told the truth about the Republicants. Everyone that knows Max say the Republicants are lucky he didn't go off on how Bush and Cheney destroyed America. Invade a country that had none of the terrorists, destroy the economy, destroy the banking system, destroy, destroy, destroy great America is all the Republicants and Bush tried to do. .
This speech was very consistent with nearly all of Baucus' speeches. He is a very well known bad speaker.
All I can say is, I could only wish to sound that good if I was drunk. This is how he sounds with nearly every speech he gives. I don't see any difference and i've listened to 17 speeches of his now on youtube.
If he was drunk how is he able to name off other senators, or potential bill names, and some facts in regards to health care reform? If he was drunk NO WAY could he do that…..
Then you would have to say he was INTOXICATED during every speech he has given, as this was a usual speech he always gives.
People are too typical, and this makes smart people easily able to identify them. The “yes party first” people are coming out in droves saying he was drunk. They have no idea, nor any clue… who Senator Baucus is. They just follow in line and “see” a story, I seriously doubt that read it, and reply like TYPICAL dotto-heads… what's new?
No, I do not think he is drunk. Watch the entire clip and you see how his voice calms down and is smooth. Also notice how the color shifts after Senator Wicker speaks. I also know of a few members who public speaking is worse.
I'm sorry to say this, but the only way we are going to get rid of these bast-ards is a full blown revolt. With a new descriptive constitution, that also holds the elected leaders responcible for their enacted laws. 65% of this country doesn't want them doing this to our healthcare. Under the new constitution this will be illegal. When the revolt happens they will all be tried in open court for treason and hanged for their crimes.
Does he have an “R” after his name?
If not, I'm not interested. I would rather work in bipartisan fashion.
But if he is a Republican then we should have the courage to slam him.
Why dont those Republicans want to work in bipartisan fashion for legislation that they dont like?
Lets bring home the troops and fight the real war against Republicans. Unity means submission…
That's how Max sounds most of the time. I don't think he's drunk…but I think something is seriously wrong with him, medically. He's gotten worse over time. A couple years ago he had some emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain some time after he was in a motorcycle accident where he sustained a head injury.
The MSM would never point it out unless it were a Repbulican, that's why.
Unbeleivable. It is amazing to me what the Republicans will stoop to. I am also from Montana and have heard Baucus talk MANY times. I admit, he is FAR from an eloquent speaker. He always seems to slur his words together in every speech I have ever seen him give….so what. This time…add PISSED to the equation and that's what you get. And I don't blame him!!! He is absolutely correct in his accusations and if it had been me, I would have lost my cool, with the “other side of the isle”, LONG before this! And if all you finger pointers would have listened to him in the past, you would have realized that. But it's obvious to me…..your republican senators are not listening and neither are you. PS….I'm slurring my words right now because I am so damn frustrated with the whole lot of you! How about “think about your country instead of yourself” for a change. Now that would be something to celebrate and have a drink for!
I agree! Sen. Baucus was PISSED to the gills. This man is a semi-functional alcoholic. who needs help….not democrat (and republican) enablers.
Head injury, now that splains it.
BREAKING NEWS: AT 4:35, HE IS PASSED A NOTE. ON THAT NOTE WERE THESE WORDS: “SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN BEFORE YOU ARE ARRESTED!”
At 4:35 Senator Baukus is passed a note. The exact words on that note are as follows: “Shut up and yield the floor before you are arrested.”
There is no doubt he is drunk, if a republican did this it would be played 24/7.
