She’s on Obama’s short list. She’s the Governor of Michigan. And she’s Canadian.

Could Jennifer Granholm be the first Canadian to serve on the United States Supreme Court. As far as I can tell, the only other foreigner to serve on the Court was an Austrian-born man named Felix Frankfurter. He was appointed to serve on the nation’s most powerful stage by FDR. But Granholm (along with the two openly-gay women supposedly on the President’s short list) would be a risky choice. Sure, she’s young. But does a President who struggles to connect with folks in the fly-over states really want to choose a Canadian over one of the many qualified Americans for the post?
