We talked about this on Saturday night’s show. A family in Minnesota lost a court battle after refusing to treat their son who is suffering from Hodgkin’s Disease. With chemotherapy, Daniel Hauser has around a 90% chance of surviving. If his parent’s get their way, he’s destined to die in a sea of herbal remedies crib from their bizarre Indian religion.

The son has clearly been brainwashed into believing that chemo and doctors are the enemy and figs and witches’ brew are the solution. I hammered on the judge in this case for 30 minutes because he refused to take the child from this dangerous home. Now, my fears have been realized as both Daniel and his mother Colleen Hauser have disappeared. A nationwide manhunt is on for the pair and if they aren’t found soon, Daniel could very well die on the road. I would place this death on the inaction of the judge as well as the insanity of the parents.
We can’t allow parents with nonsensical religious beliefs to abuse their children in this way. This isn’t about freedom of religion, it’s about freedom from stupidity. The doctors working on Daniel are very confident that if he is treated, he will live. Yet his family seems determined to watch him die.
We’ll revisit this one this Saturday…
