Facebook Battles Holocaust-Denial Groups

With popularity, sites like Facebook are dealing with new problems. The same nuts that join street protests claiming 9/11 was an ‘inside job’ or that the holocaust is a myth are now taking to their keyboards and forming Facebook groups dedicated to their loony causes.

Why are people that “join street protests claiming 9/11 was an ‘inside job’” or people that claim “that the holocaust is a myth”, nuts?

What is inherently wrong with believing that 9/11 was an ‘inside job’ or that the holocaust is a myth?

I understand shutting up people advocating the perpetration of a terrorist attack or genocide but I do not understand the frothing at the mouth of those trying to shut up people denying historical events.

Are you concerned at all about the Armenian Holocaust?

I know people that get kicked off Facebook for simple pranks, but they allow these classless groups to organize within their site? What a joke.

If Facebook keeps censoring any group that evenly mildly offends anyone, they will turn into a politically correct, saccharin site that will cater exclusively to tweeners. If people don’t want to believe in the Holocaust, so be it–that’s up to them. Facebook can’t be the thought-police. Other sites will come along and fill the void (they are starting to already).

So they want FACEBOOK to Ban a page because it expresses a BELIEF?!?! Im sorry people, Offensive or not, this content and PAGE should stay, im not supporting it, however, you people need to realize that EVERY HUMAN on this planet has the RIGHT to express there own opinion, belief understanding or thoughts about a certain topic, and just because it is offensive to you, does not mean you have the right to tell someone else they can not post there views on the subject on the internet! This would be like the Church trying to ban ANYTHING Anti-Catholic, Not gonna happen, because in no way should the church be forcing there religion on anyone!

The GROUPS/PAGES should stay, everyone has the RIGHT To post there own Beliefs

While I don’t deny the holocaust and the vast numbers of people killed I have often questioned where the number 11 million killed or 6 million jews killed came from. Try asking and you are accused of being anti-jewish.

If facebook is stupid enough to cave into groups that don’t like what “others” think then they might as well shut down. The last time I checked it was not a crime in the U.S. to not believe something.

Seriously, I don’t think it’s matter of hatred only, I think you’ll have to be a complete idiot to claim the Holocaust didn’t happen. You might as well start a Faceboook group called” The earth is flat”. Unfortunately, the “Cubans” have a penchant for being in the news and this is nothing but another self serving stunt. As Jews, we create more haters by making an issue out of something for the sake of publicity, as in this case. Here’s my point: 1-These deniers aren’t going to stop denying the Holocaust just because Facebook shuts them down. 2- Newsflash: there are 10s if not 100s of sites dedicated to denying the Holocaust. So removing them from Facebook won’t take their oxygen away as the ACLU’s Deborah claims. They DO KNOW HOW TO FIND EACH OTHER. 3- I’d rather have them on Facebook where the whole world gets to see their hatred and the ugliness of their message in the open. And since these people are convinced of their opinions and are proud of their stand, we should ask them to post their real pics rather than ban them. This way the supposed hunter becomes the hunted.
