Chavez Tries To Recuit Obama

Hugo Chavez is having dreams of a Socialist Union, led by him:

chavez

“It’s regrettable the crisis that the U.S. is living through. Millions of workers are being left in the street, thousands of companies are closing, in the U.S. there isn’t a single new infrastructure project. Go look for a highway there, the country has gone bust.”

“Now President Obama arrived with some announcements, hopefully, but the capitalist model and its perverse values have failed.”

“I recommend to Obama — they’re criticizing him because they say he’s moving towards socialism — come Obama, ally with us on the path to socialism, it’s the only road.”

“Imagine a socialist revolution in the U.S. Nothing is impossible.”

More:

Chavez said that people are calling Obama a “socialist” for the measures of state intervention he is taking to counter the crisis, so it would not be too far-fetched to suggest that he might join the project of “21st century socialism” that the Venezuelan leader is heading.

Chavez might want to focus on his own territory… Venezuela’s economy is based on an oil price of around $60 per barrel. Oil has been below $50 for quite some time now with no real signs of improvement. As China, the U.S., and the UK dive further into an economic slowdown, the demand for oil will decrease even more. The price will continue to hang below the mark Venezuela is aiming for — and they will suffer.

Though the government of Venezuela is growing every day under Chavez, they can’t seem to keep food on the shelves and shortages have been reported around the country for the last several years. Chavez can seize every business in the country, it’s not going to fix anything. In fact, he’s been quite adapt at accidentally proving the ineptitude of the Venezuelan government in running any business whatsoever.

President Obama’s willingness to reach out to leaders like Ahmadinejad, Chavez and others is already backfiring as they mock him with statements like this. Obama truly believes he can outsmart or out perform these folks diplomatically but diplomacy is a two-way street and guys like Chavez have no interest in giving any ground. Instead, they look to use Obama’s stature to raise their profiles on the international stage.

Will the Obama administration respond to this?
