Chicago Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL) is the anonymous “Senate Candidate #5″ whose emissaries Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich reportedly claimed offered up to a million dollars to name him to the U.S. Senate, federal law enforcement sources tell ABC News.
I was right. Jackson is denying having made any payments to Blagojevich but I have a solid feeling that this mystery is just beginning to unfold. It seems that at the very least Jackson made it clear to the Governor that he would be willing to throw some cash his way in exchange for Obama’s vacant Senate seat. What would have been the launching of a major political career for him is now, quite possibly, the end of the line for Jackson Jr. who can safely join his father on the bench of irrelevance. Now we sit back and wait for the damning audiotapes to surface.
