Teacher Diantha Harris browbeats McCain supporting student, Kathy,in Ashville N.Carolina grade school. The poor girl is obviously distressed over the teacher’s line of questiong and belittling her choice of candidate in front of her school mates.
Teaching > Indoctrination
If you’re put off by this video… wait until you see how deep this valley goes…
I can’t decide what’s worse; the fact that this happened, or the fact that I’m not surprised by it.
I wouldn’t care WHO this “teacher” was going to vote for, the fact that she essentially singled out and belittled one of the kids based on who the were pulling for in the election is flat out wrong. If a video popped up showing this same scenario with a teacher doing this to a kid pulling for Obama, it would be splashed all over the web and TV. I’d be just as outraged, though.
Maybe she was a journalism major in college.
Unfortunely, Shawn has never posted the myriad of examples on the right of teachers and churches brow beating students for progressive ideas. Peeved guy’s indignance is a joke. If this were a teacher berating a student for being gay or for stating that the war is bad, he surely wouldn’t give a crap what the teacher did
I agree with you guys on this one. I don’t think teachers should be talking politics with kids like this. And I agree she singled out the little girl and embarrassed her.
It’s true teachers should teach truth and facts. But Racer’s point is that Shawn never prints articles about the reverse cases, of which there are far more. I’m sure he doesn’t care if teachers tell kids the Earth is only 3,000 years old like Sarah Palin believes. Peeved guy doth prostest WAY too much
[...] always, the knife cuts both ways. We’ve got teachers browbeating students who supported McCain and teacher’s aides saying despicable things that we should all distance [...]
WRONG! Don’t tell me what I would or would not do. Did you read what I wrote, or did I use too many polysyllabic words for you? I don’t give a shit what side of the fence they’re on, I don’t give a shit about the topic, teachers need to teach, not preach. Period.
Why don’t you link to the “myriad” of examples you claim Shawn is glossing over for the sake of partisanship? Do you not know how? I’d be happy to explain it to you, just let me know. Or, is it because you’d only be able to find a few? How many conservative school teachers do you know? College professors? You liberal/progressive LOVE to play the victim, but when you are called on some crap like this, then you start in with the “Well you repubes do it too” like a bunch of whiny babies.
I guess all of this is part of the master plan for the left, clearly our president-elect does not give a rats ass about pastors preaching hate from the pulpit, I’m sure he would give this teacher a raise.
So then link to some here in the comments. Convince me you’re right (well, correct. I know you’re not ‘right’.
). It’s always the same with you guys (BitsyGal, RacerX) you accuse people (Shawn, me to some extent, etc.) of not presenting both sides of an issue but then you don’t either. It makes me think that you just make stuff up to “prove your point”. LINK TO STUFF to make your case.
Sheesh, how hard is that to understand?
