New Political Teacher Controversy

ALLISON PARK (KDKA) ― A teacher’s aide in a vocational school in the North Hills faces disciplinary action after he allegedly made offensive remarks about President-elect Barack Obama.

The student – a 16-year-old girl – told her parents that an aide at the AW Beattie Career Center on Babcock Blvd. in Allison Park yelled, among other things, that Obama was going to be shot, our flag would be changed to the KFC flag, and the National Anthem would be changed to “Moving On Up.”

As always, the knife cuts both ways. We’ve got teachers browbeating students who supported McCain and teacher’s aides saying despicable things that we should all distance ourselves from.

Odds are, this teacher’s aide will be fired. The Obama-supporting teacher remains employed.

Yeah, this fool needs to go. I don’t think the other teacher necessarily needs to be fired, she just needs some remedial training on boundaries regarding expression of beliefs.

If what the mother in this story says is 100% true, we’re talking about more than just some teacher pushing their political agenda on elementary kids, it flat out racism and no school should tolerate that.

Hmmm… don’t you think it is a lttle different to insult the president-elect in front of a student than to intimidate a student for their pick of president? When Bush was elected I heard countless cowboy jokes. Were those inappropriate? I know that racist jokes and cowboy jokes are different, but come on. I think these two situations are a little… well… I don’t know.
