Take another look at that photo, and that nice, expensive silk scarf which she wore yesterday. Isn’t that a really cute animal motif there? Why, yes, it is, since it features my favorite party animal:
The donkey. Yep, you got that—the Democratic donkey!
The text above is from a rather hateful DailyKos diary titled ‘Is Sarah Palin This Amazingly Stupid?”
First things first, it’s a jackass. Sure, a Jackass is the proper title for a male Donkey but it’s deeper than that. The Democratic Party’s logo wasn’t always a jackass, it used to be a rooster. Then, Andrew Jackson was called a ‘jackass’ by opponents in the press during a contentious election and he liked the moniker so much he adopted it as the official party logo. But that’s all history…
Check out this photo, snapped during her speech in Reno yesterday — no scarf. Then, while working the crowd, she was handed the scarf by a trickster looking to embarrass her and, in the fury of an autograph signing, she didn’t notice that it was sporting the donkey graphics. Pop forward to photo 15 in this set and you’ll see that she wasn’t paying attention as she tossed it around her neck. Palin probably saw red, white and blue and though it was some random patriotic scarf. Is it semi-funny? Yes. Is it clearly a gotcha? Absolutely.
I mentioned in an earlier post on a shocking AP poll that has the race dead even as we approach the homestretch that the vast majority of those polled viewed McCain’s attacks on Obama as ‘unfair’ and Obama’s return volleys were deemed legit. This is an example of why that is possible. Barack Obama has no need to sling mud at this point in the election — he’s got tons of pseudo-surrogates who will do it for him. The media is clearly on his side and folks like Keith Olbermann will throw the jabs that land below the belt for Obama so he can remain clean (Biden’s word, not mine) as McCain lashes out in attack ads. So when people talk about the ‘negative’ tone of McCain’s campaign remember that folks like Reverend Wright, Keith Olbermann and Congressional jack-in-the boxes join the parade of race-baiters and the left-aligned media to take care of the dirty work for him. You can’t blame Obama for letting it happen, he’s sitting pretty.
Ugh — only 12 days left.
Sarah Palin has made every effort to embody all that is
rugged and real. It turns out she is a breathtaking fraud.
Palin speaks about being Joe Six-Pack when in reality she’s
Jane Champagne, with a net worth over $1 million. As the
Washington Times reported, “A check of financial
records…shows the Palins live anything but a common life
when compared with their fellow residents of their hometown
of Wasilla. Their combined income of nearly a quarter-million
dollars last year was five times the median household income
for Wasilla’s 7,000 residents. They own a single-engine
plane, two boats, two personal watercraft and a half-million-
dollar, custom-built home on a lake that is worth three times
the average of other homes in town.”
Palin spoke at last Thursday’s debate with a collection of
folksy “you betchas,” but, as conservative Obama supporter
Andrew Sullivan pointed out, “Just compare this recording of
Palin in Alaska in 2006 to what you heard last night. Ask
yourself where the folksiness is. See how many times she ”
says ‘doggone’ in 2006. Or ‘betcha.’ Or ‘Joe Six-Pack.’
Palin uses sports the same way she uses her looks and
language, which have turned the blog corner at National
Review into something like the Penthouse Forum. The simple
truth that Palin is Bush with lip-gloss, the only difference
being that she was a better athlete than the former Yale
cheerleader. She is still the same person who was the head of
the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter at her high
school. FCA is a group whose stated mission is to “use the
powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus
Christ.” Substitute “politics” for “athletics,” and we have
Palin. But it isn’t just about spreading the word of God.
It’s about the right-wing edge of the fundamentalist movement
that uses sports to mask a political agenda of creationism,
bigotry, environmental catastrophe and deregulation. And if
that leads to the “end-times,” then so it was written. If
sports teaches us anything, it’s that you can disguise a
lousy competitor for one round, one quarter or one inning,
but the truth has a way of making itself known. There is a
reason Sarah Palin hasn’t done a press conference. In every
conceivable way, she belongs in the minors: strictly Bush
league.
Now we know why McCain set “rich” at $5 million.
And you thought he was just senile.
Speaking of punked. BitsyGal, are you Dave Zirin?
So, it seems that McCain and Palin are being “Swiftboated” a’ la John F. Kerry. Only more so (by orders of magnitude) because the “527″ in this election race is not only the yukster who handed her the scarf and others like them, but the mainstream information outlets (newspapers, some cable news channels, The Daily Show, Letterman, etc.) as well.
It is no wonder you are an Obama Biden supporter, BitsyGal. Plagiarism seems to come naturally.
[...] Palin got punked. Ha ha ha… [The News Junkie] Ivanka Trump with nothing under her trench coat… [The Beer [...]
I was wondering, when will the “seasoned”
Republicans say something about McCain’s
choice of a running mate. I know that many
of these people are experienced and smart.
But since they all accept his choice, I guess
they are all like him. All incapable of good
judgement. I guess that is why she has to
give “official positions” to her children.
They seem to be smarter than these Republicans !!!
Honestly, I think they already have. The Republican establishment mocked McCain for his choice instantaneously. It is only the American public and voter base that seems to have approved the pick.
[...] Scarf incident not sign of changed allegiance, but of need to keep neck warm as RNC will no longer fund shopping [...]
Ummm that isn’t the democrats donkey moron. That is just a donkey. Not every donkey belongs to the democrats **rolls eyes**
