Some great analysis of the current cable media landscape from CJR today. I disagree with a few points (especially the bit about MSNBC offering a rainbow of opinons) but this quote is interesting:
From personal experience covering news around the world, you almost always run into a CNN crew or stringer. You almost never run into a Fox reporter, and never one from MSNBC.
Read the whole thing at CJR’s website.

As I was watching President Obama’s stimulus update presser today, several readers emailed to ask ‘What’s that spot on Joe Biden’s forehead?’ Joe Biden is the first Catholic Vice President the U.S. has seen so each Ash Wednesday these questions float in like crazy. It’s Ash Wednesday, folks.

Fox News sent a reporter to Joe Biden’s hometown of Scranton today for a story on how Pennsylvania is a “battleground” state. Keep an eye on those hands…
Jesus. How can you defend that? Maybe he felt stupid because it went against his point that Pennsylvania (a state which Obama will win) is a ’swing state’ but still…

Cut everything.
Drop your cable package and TiVo. Say goodbye to Applebee’s and Starbucks. Cancel the ski trip.
Slash every single penny you possibly can from your household budgets and start building up cash.
Yes, I’m serious. The shocking collapse of the rescue package on Capitol Hill threatens a disaster on Main Street. Unless this gets reversed almost immediately, it could turn a slowdown into a slump, and a slump into a

Sing for Change chronicles a recent Sunday afternoon, when 22 children, ages 5-12, gathered to sing original songs in the belief that their singing would lift up our communities for the coming election. Light, hope, courage and love shine through these nonvoting children who believe that their very best contribution to the Obama campaign is to sing.
Sing for Change was a confluence of hard work, good will, and shared vision. Inspired

Last night, she posted two blog entries– one ostensibly mocks one of her online supporters and the other ruminates on the licentiousness of Nancy Grace (via an uncited wikipedia entry, I’m pretty sure).
If this case weren’t so damn unpredictable, I’d call fake on this one. Problem is, I know she has a Facebook account and I’ve seen her on AOL Instant Messenger so they’re probably real.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks continued a rebound following a private research group report that Americans’ confidence in the economy has improved in September.
The reading, which doesn’t reflect attitudes following Monday’s steep stock market sell-off, remains near a 16-year low. The Conference Board reports Tuesday its Consumer Confidence Index rose to 59.8 from a revised 58.5 in August.
Wall Street had expected a reading of 55.5, according to Thomson/IFR.

Karl Rove speaks to Fox News Radio host John Gibson about behind-the-scenes maneuvering during the bailout rejection.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) ended three days of suspense on Friday morning and announced that he will leave bailout negotiations in Washington and fly to Oxford, Miss., for the opening presidential debate.

A few clarifications should be made. This video lays all of the blame on Democrats, which is a natural reaction in an election year, but that lets a lot of Republicans off the hook. In 2003, the Bush administration tried to stop the runaway train of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and Republicans controlled both chambers of Congress. Democrats alone didn’t stop this. No one filibustered the Bush administration’s bill in the
