(CNN) — The Rev. Jesse Jackson issued an apology to Barack Obama Wednesday for making what he called a “crude and hurtful” remark about the Illinois senator’s recent comments directed toward some members of the black community.
According to Jackson, a Fox News microphone picked up comments he meant to deliver privately that seemed to disparage the presumptive Democratic nominee for appearing to lecture the black community on morality.
Jackson didn’t elaborate on the context of his remarks, except to say he was trying to explain that Obama was hurting his relationship with black voters by recently conducting “moral” lectures at African-American churches.
Jackson’s apology came a few hours before Fox News planned to air the remarks.
Jackson’s on a massive preemptive apology tour, calling anyone who will bother to listen to him. Fox News has the audio tape and it will be played tonight on both O’Reilly and Hannity & Colmes.
Audio to follow…
Update: Here is Jesse Jackson’s apology to CNN…
Update: Here is the actual video of Jesse Jackson’s comments as aired on Fox News.
Fox News transcribes this as ‘I want to cut off his nuts’ but it’s very hard to tell.
[...] Jesse Jackson: Obama Lost His ‘Nuts’ [...]
OBH looked down on church-going, gun-owning people from PA. Now he is looking down on Jesse’s constituency. Does this mean that Mr. Himeytown will not be in BHO’s cabinet. I was not shocked by the statement, but I was surprised he ended his sentence with the preposition “off”. Shouldn’t it be “I want to cut off his nuts”?
Again, the reporters let us down on this story.
It was not what Jackson said. It was where, why and how he said it.
As to the where and how, it was a whisper, uttered in the hope of secrecy.
As to the why, it is clear that Jackson was priming the pump; that is, planting a seed in his fellow guest seated to his left.
His purpose? He hoped that the other guest would either say something negative about Obama or support him were he to do so. He was feeling out the sentiment of that guest.
His motivation? He knows, deep down in side, that he is history, more than ever if Obama is elected. He was grasping at a straw (okay, something else) in an attempt to harm whatever power he thinks Obama has to hold sway among our black population. He knows that his corporate blackmailing gig has petered out. And with that, so has he.
His act, to me, epitomizes the nature of liberal American political tactics and the recent history of democrat tactics. Hubert Humphries, Scoop Jackson, and others of their prominence would shudder at what is now going on in, and perpetrated by their party.
